Just a little news from England:

On 5th October 2007 veteran UK blues harmonica player and singer Shakey Vick (Graham Vickery) celebrated his 70th birthday with a special gig at the Inn On the Green in West London.

Jools Holland is perhaps the best-known face of UK blues and related music, thanks to his amiable personality and his regular show on national television. The end of October saw Jules and his big band embark on their regular and keenly anticipated year-end tour, taking him right up until only a few days before Christmas. (check out www.joolsholland.com).

Another name to reach out beyond the traditional blues audience is Eric Clapton, of course. Early in October Polydor released Complete Clapton, a two CD set that enjoyed unbelievable blanket marketing! Needless to say, it is not complete, and tends to focus on Eric’s rock career from Cream onwards!

I just completed the liner notes for Feelin’ Good’s studio-recorded Gail Muldrow CD ‘Peace Of Mind’. Believe me, it’s a real blues stormer! Besides Gail’s contribution, check out Andy Just’s amazing harp playing…..

Ace Italian guitarist Mike Sponza has recently been working with top young British blues-rock guitarist Ian Siegal. Look out for a central European tour from them in January 2008.

That’s about it for now!
