Songlines, the band's first new studio album in nearly four years, signals the DTB's arrival at a spiritual plateau after a decade long journey of musical discovery. While 'Songlines' embraces the group's big-eared love of rock, jazz, blues, Latin and world music, it is unquestionably their most cohesive album to date. This landmark recording is the next step in the bold and fascinating musical evolution of The Derek Trucks Band. It's the first DTB studio offering to showcase the straight-up band, direct and pure and working-as-one, striking an uncanny balance between the power and mystery of the group's transcendent live performances and the coherent focus of a beautifully conceived and realized studio production.

DTB on Video!! - The Derek Trucks Band's performance at the Park West in Chicago this Sat Jan 28 will be video taped in high definition for a special HDNet broadcast! The program will air later this year so stay tuned for details. Come join us in Chicago and be a part of the first full concert shoot of the DTB.

The first “EUROPEAN BLUES CRUISE", will leave from Barcelona.
The Societat de blues de Barcelona organises and directs a blues festival in Mediterranean waters between the cities of Barcelona and Ibiza.

Barcelona, January 2006

The next 31st March, 1st and 2nd April this event will take place. though it's the first time that's performed in Europe, the concept was born in the USA and it's having a great success. The European Blues Cruise was born with the intention of imitate the famous Blues nights in the Mississippi waters, with musicians from the Delta and Chicago, birth place of a genre, sometimes forgotten, even though small "war fares" fight to re-discover more than a century of history that the Blues has.

One of this small “war fares” is found in Barcelona, a young society without any lucrative aim, but full of veteran musicians and supporters, that will board the most important artists of the Blues worldwide, living together with the travellers during the cruise.

Balearia, one of the best known maritime companies, has made the logistic part of the cruise possible, placing at our total disposal a big ferry with cabins, allowing the passengers to enjoy a floating hotel during the entire event, that will also be a stage for performances, concerts, master-classes and conferences, always related to the blues.

The prestigious musician Vicente “Harmonica” Zúmel, the President of the Societat de Blues de Barcelona says:“ far from being a luxury cruise, we want to offer an spectacle with quality , with the best artists, the best ambient and an unique surrounding. We didn’t want the price to be a problem, and the members of the society we've achieved –with a lot of effort- this goal with our work”.

Actually, the idea, the artists' billboard and this group organisation is worth to be taken into consideration by everyone that, even without knowing, are feeling the Blues call.

We can find more information and the registration formulary of the cruise in their web http://www.europeanbluescruise.com and in the Sociedad de Blues de Barcelona web as well http://www.bluesbarcelona.org

ALLIGATOR RECORDS SIGNS
GUITARIST/VOCALIST/SONGWRITER
ERIC LINDELL

Eric Lindell is a natural. With impressive guitar chops, a worn, smoldering voice and a rocking rhythmic sensibility, his jam-friendly style converts blues purists and dyed in the wool R&B fans as well as the tattooed and pierced crowd. His voice recalls Stax and Motown-era soul, with a laid back, hipster charisma. Eric Lindell is poised for a breakout. He has turned heads everywhere he's gone, almost instantly becoming the talk of the town wherever his musical journey has taken him.
--An Honest Tune

Born in 1969, Lindell is an "old soul" from California reinventing New Orleans R&B. He has a cool, genuine old school aura that is both natural and refreshing. Eric does his own thing in his own way and at his own pace. His melodic sensibility and fresh approach are most impressive.
--OffBeat

Alligator Records is proud to announce the signing of guitarist/ vocalist/ songwriter Eric Lindell. The California-born, New Orleans-schooled musician will release his Alligator debut, CHANGE IN THE WEATHER, in April 2006. A roots rocker with dozens of original songs that combine soul shaking rhythm & blues, reggae grooves, swamp pop and blues, Lindell is a fan favorite in his northern California turf and his adopted home of New Orleans (where he was featured on the cover of OffBeat magazine and performed on the main stage at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival). Lindell is accomplished on guitar, harmonica, keyboards and bass. He has performed with some of the Crescent City's top musicians as well as some of the jam band community's biggest names (including members of Galactic). The winner of the "1999 John Lennon Songwriting Competition" for his song Kelly Ann, Lindell is now ready to bring his rough-hewn voice and memorable original songs to the rest of the music-loving world.

CHANGE IN THE WEATHER will delight and surprise music fans hungry for an extraordinary, original artist who is just getting ready to explode. Lindell's songs are cliche-free, completely original and yet have an instant familiarity to them. The laid-back grooves and hook-laden melodies hint of 1970's-era Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen, but are not throwbacks as much as they are powerful, rootsy, thought-provoking and danceable contemporary songs. Traces of Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Ray Charles and Sly and the Family Stone can be found in Eric's originals, with foot-stomping grooves coming around every corner and horns punching in all the right places.

Born in San Mateo, California, in 1969, the former "skate-punk" spent countless hours in San Francisco, soaking up the musical sounds of the city, eventually leading him to pick up the bass, and then the guitar. Lindell listened to the music of Donny Hathaway and The Impressions as well as Stevie Ray Vaughan. He discovered blues greats Junior Wells, Jimmy Reed and Albert King on his own before drifting toward the R&B sounds of Stevie Wonder, soaking up the soul and learning how to craft a song. After performing at bars on the West Coast with a few short-lived bands, Eric formed his own group in 1993 and quickly gained a loyal California audience thanks to countless performances and many late-night jam sessions. Established stars like Charlie Musselwhite and Tom Waits attended his gigs, as did overflow crowds of music fans.

Lindell left for New York in 1998, gigging there regularly before heading down to New Orleans in 1999, and quickly discovered the roots music scene. He gravitated toward the West Bank dive bars of Gretna and Algiers, Louisiana, where he befriended many older, swamp pop musicians, who helped him get more regular gigs. Before long, he met up with Galactic's Stanton Moore, and the two began playing together. Some of New Orleans finest players including Harold Brown of War and drummer Johnny Vidocovich often joined him on stage. Galactic bassist Rob Mercurio began sitting in as well, and word of Lindell's immense talents began spreading around the city. Some of the city's biggest stars began showing up at his gigs, embracing this fresh California kid's funky music. Some of his famous friends and admirers include Branford Marsalis, Art, Aaron and Ivan Neville, John Scofield, Chris Chew (North Mississippi Allstars), Vince Welnik (Grateful Dead) and Wally Ingram (David Lindley, Stockholm Syndrome).

Lindell's live shows draw as much attention as his material. His unstoppable grooves, rocking, roots, original songs and excellent musicianship always fill the dance floor wherever he plays. With the release of CHANGE IN THE WEATHER, Lindell and band will tour heavily, giving the rest of the country the chance discover for themselves what a growing number of people already know: Eric Lindell is a musician bursting at the seams with talent, with enough original songs and inventive grooves to carry him as far as he chooses to go. NorthernBlues Music & Paul Reddick Contribute To The 2006 Coca-Cola TV Ad Campaign
Paul Reddick and NorthernBlues Music are part of the 2006 Coca-Cola TV ad campaign launched during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC in the United States.

"I’m a Criminal," performed and written by Paul Reddick from "Rattlebag" (NorthernBlues Music 2001), is played in one commercial where a 20-something guy fills up a fountain drink at a convenience store, takes a couple of sips, glances around, and then tops off his Coke again. The caption at the end of the ad reads "Sip stealing. Not a felony in all 50 states."

Since 2002 NorthernBlues Music has been fairly successful in the film, TV and advertising market. The label has placed songs by Otis Taylor, Rita Chiarelli, Harry Manx, Kevin Breit, Mavis Staples and Paul Reddick in several movies and TV series and two ad campaigns.

NorthernBlues Music Recording Artists Walk Away With Four 2006 Maple Blues Awards
NorthernBlues Music recording artists, Paul Reddick and Carlos del Junco, received a total of four awards at the 9th annual Maple Blues Awards held Monday, January 16, 2006 in Toronto, Canada.

Toronto's Paul Reddick took home honors in two categories - Songwriter of the Year, of which he has been a previous recipient, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year. Reddick's recording "Villanelle" (NorthernBlues Music 2004) won yet another Producer of the Year award for Juno and Grammy award-winning blues legend Colin Linden, who hosted the gala event for a wall-to wall crowd at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.

"Paul is certainly starting the year with a bang," says Fred Litwin, president of NorthernBlues Music. "Having one of his songs picked up for the 2006 Coca-Cola TV ad campaign and now this, hopefully signals even greater things to come in 2006."

Carlos del Junco received the award for Harmonica Player of the Year. Monday evening, he delivered a captivating rendition of "Run Me Down", a track from "Blues Mongrel" (NorthernBlues Music 2005), leaving one in no doubt why he won the award.

After more then 50 years of performing and travelling Byther decided to call it a day and stop travelling and touring. Although I personally hate to hear it I can also fully understand.
On the phone he told me he will do a few more shows in the US and then stop playing music in public. Byther decided to stop at a point were he is still able to perform the way he wanted to.
Byther and I have been working together since 1994 and we did numerous tours and concerts all over Europe. Besides all these concerts we also recorded two great records: SMITTY’S BLUES (2001) and THROW AWAY THE BOOK (2003). He was and will stay one of my musical Hero’s.
